Veteran Transportation Service

VA Puget Sound Health Care System Veterans Transportation Service

Veterans who are currently eligible for VA health care benefits and have a VA authorized appointment are eligible for the Veterans Health Administration's Veteran Transportation Service(VTS).

The VTS program is a new specialized transportation program designed to serve remote and immobilized VA patients while supplementing existing benefits and programs to improve access to VA health care. The program includes GPS-equipped accessible vehicles and new route-scheduling software. The VA especially recognizes the problems veterans, who are visually impaired, elderly, or immobilized due to disease or disability, particularly those living in remote and rural areas, face in traveling to access VA health care.

Volunteer Transportation Network

DAV (Disabled American Veterans) operates a fleet of vehicles driven by volunteers to provide free transportation to VA medical facilities for ambulatory veterans. The Volunteer Transportation Network(VTN) operates in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties and can drive qualified passengers to both the American Lake and Seattle VA Medical Centers. Veteran riders must be ambulatory. The VTN program operates Monday through Friday in all three counties and in order to book a ride, veterans must call five days in advance.

King and Snohomish counties: 7:00am - 8:30am pickups for VA appointments between 9:30am - 12:15pm. No Seattle transportation service last Friday of month.

Pierce county: 6:00am - 8:30am pickups for VA appointments between 9:00 -2:00pm(appointment completion).

If you would like to book a ride, see if you qualify, or need assistance, contact your local DAV Hospital Service Coordinator (HSC). To find your local HSC, click here
